Malaga’s bird brained scam artists arrested in the Costa del Sol

MALAGA’S BIRD BRAINED SCAM ARTISTS ARRESTED IN THE COSTA DEL SOL

GUARDIA Civil, as part of operation ‘Cotorra’, have arrested two people and are investigating a third who has been accused of the alleged crimes of fraud and falsification of documentation.

The action began after receiving several complaints from people who had bought exotic birds, parrots and macaws, and purebred dogs through an Internet sales portal. However, once entering payment details the buyers did not receive the animals nor could they contact the seller again.

In addition, they also deceived sellers of this type of animals by receiving animals but not fulfilling payment. To do this, they used false or stolen documentation from other people in order to guarantee that they would not be located and deceived the sellers into believing that they had paid the money.

After the investigations, numerous further complaints arose in different provinces of Andalucia and the Valencian Community.
