First coronavirus death in Mallorca

MALLORCA has registered its first death from the coronavirus.
The victim was a 59-year old woman with a chronic illness who had tested positive for Covid-19 and was being treated at the Son Espases hospital in Palma, Spanish press reported.
She had been admitted to the hospital on March 6 for a condition unrelated to coronavirus, but started to go downhill on Wednesday. She was transferred to intensive care, but sadly passed away.
After it was confirmed that the patient was infected with coronavirus 80 health professionals who had had direct contact with her were put under active surveillance.
One of the 59-year’s family members has also reportedly tested positive.
