Sixth Confirmed Coronavirus Case in Mallorca, Spain

Although Catalunia still has relatively fewer cases in total than Madrid, the acceleration of new cases is worrying.

The Balearic Government has now confirmed the sixth coronavirus case in Mallorca. The infected person had been in contact with another patient who had previously travelled to Turin in Italy. The Department of Health and Consumer Affairs reports that the man remains isolated at the Son Llàtzer Hospital in Palma, where he was admitted this Wednesday night.

In Spain as a whole, a second coronavirus death has previously been reported. The victim was an 82-year-old man with chronic illness, who died from pneumonia after being infected with the killer virus.

In total, Spain has now suffered two deaths and over 200 people have been infected with the disease.

Worldwide, close to 100,000 coronavirus cases have been confirmed, with almost 3,300 reported deaths to date.
