Repair work is to start on a popular path on the Orihuela Costa that was damaged in last September’s storms. 30 thousand euros is to be invested on the walkway through the Punta La Glea reserve in Aquamarina, according to Orihuela’s environment councillor, Dámaso Aparicio.
“There are major issues caused by the Gota Fria,” said Aparicio. “A number of wooden steps have broken away as well as damage to wooden fencing. Other issues include signs that were blown down; broken paving and natural vegetation that has spread onto the path.” The councillor added that improvements to the area had been demanded for some time ahead of the storms and that the project, in association with experts from the Ministry of Environment, would be done as quickly as possible.
