Costa Almeria unemployment rate dips

UNEMPLOYMENT in Almeria has dipped over the last year.
Government figures reveal there were 1,595 less people registered as out of work in provincial Public Service Employment offices in February than in the same month of 2019. This represented a 2.76 per cent decrease and put the jobless total at 56,111.
Unemployment the province last month was also down on January, by 152 people, or 0.27 per cent.
The number of men out of work fell by 185 between the first month of the year and February, while the number of women looking for employment went up by 33; 56 per cent of Almeria’s jobless are women.
By sector, the biggest drop was in services (-163), followed by agriculture and fishing (-72), construction (-42), and industry (-19).
Of the total 23,452 work contracts formalised in February, 2,372 were indefinite, representing 10.1 per cent of the total.
