Three months of repairs and improvements are taking place around Pedro del Pinatar, with the local council targetting the El Mojón and Villananitosbareas. Works and Services councillor, Ángela Gaona, says that the workload for maintenance of public areas has dramatically increased due to the damage caused by September ́s Gota Fria and Storm Gloria earlier this year. Repair work will be done in different green areas, as well as replacing benches, signs, and some pavements.
“We need these enhancements to make sure that the town is ready for the busy Easter and summer seasons”, Gaona explained. A 20-strong team will be working through to May including six people from the public works department and four gardeners. Council workers have also been trying to clear up the San Pedro area beaches in time for the tourist season following the recent storm devastation.
