TV Presenter Lorraine Kelly shocks viewers with the news her daughter Rosie has self-isolated in Singapore amid Coronavirus fears

Lorraine Kelly has said her daughter Rosie is in "self isolation" in Singapore

On her Breakfast Tv programme host Lorraine Kelly today revealed that her daughter Rosie, 24, has ‘self-isolated’ after falling ill in Singapore amid fears about the spread of coronavirus.

The ITV host explained on her daytime show that her husband Steve Smith is jetting to Asia to be with her.

Speaking on today’s Monday episode, the 60-year-old presenter revealed that her husband had told her that Heathrow airport is ‘dead’ as travel to certain countries has been discouraged amid the spread of the disease.

Lorraine revealed: ‘My husband has sent me a few pictures from Heathrow as he’s going over to see Rosie in Singapore. It was absolutely dead.’

“The worrying thing is that Symptoms of coronavirus, known as Covid-19, are not like those of a cold: it causes fever, cough and trouble breathing, not a runny nose or congestion.”

Rosie’s decision to self-isolate comes as the global coronavirus death toll has hit 3,000 following a sudden spike in Italian cases. The virus, known as Covid-19, has infected in excess of 85,000 people in 47 countries.

At present, it is believed that one per cent of Covid-19 cases die. But this makes it as deadly as the 1918 ‘Spanish’ flu – one of the worst pandemics known, thought to have killed up to 50million worldwide.
