LADIES’ WINNERS: Cath Patrick and Shelagh Allen CREDIT: Almeria Bowling Club
THE weather was kind with warm sunshine for the Almeria Bowling Club Ladies’ Club Pairs Jackson Cup and the Men’s Club Pairs Parsons Trophy competitions. It was Catherine Patrick and Sheila Allen against Carole Roberts and Eileen Phoenix in the Jackson Cup Final. Catherine and Sheila had a good start. Carole and Eileen crept up and went ahead on the third end, but although playing well it was Catherine and Sheila who triumphed in the end. The Parsons Trophy was Brian Hallam and Paul Fitzhugh pitched against Chris Ewer and Ron Lloyd. Unfortunately for Chris and Ron, Brian and Paul were on fire and won the championship comfortably. Chris and Ron had reached the final by beating Colin Wright and Reg Birmingham in the semis, while Brian and Paul were successful over John Fitzgerald and Graham Patrick. MEN’S WINNERS: Brian Hallam and Paul FitzhughCREDIT: Almeria Bowling Club In the ladies’ semi-finals, Carole and Eileen beat Barbra Reardon and Karen Rushton and Catherine and Sheila won against Christina Fitzgerald and Linda Burgess. The Captain Chris Brown thanked Tony Lear for running the competition, Alan Deacon for umpiring on the Sunday, Bryan Hughes for putting out the rinks each day, Tony Lear for taking the photographs and the many people who turned out to support the competitions.
