A man from Chester, England was left with life-changing injuries after a robber burst into his home and attacked him with a gin glass.
Wesley Sherlock shouted “police” as he pushed his way into a 23-year-old man’s house on Victoria Road in Ellesmere Port and told grabbed him by the coat.
Sherlock, of St Marys Street in Wallasey , told the man to lie on his stomach and put his hands behind his back during the attack on December 1, 2019.
As the man lay on the floor, 27-year-old Sherlock stole his watch and rummaged through a number of rooms in the house.
After Sherlock left the house, with a games console and designer handbag, he fled the scene in a black BMW that was parked nearby.
His victim was left bleeding heavily from the face and after being rushed to hospital for treatment it was discovered that Sherlock had hit him with a gin glass during the struggle.
Almost three weeks after the attack, Sherlock’s home in Wallasey was raided and he was arrested.
At Chester Crown Court, on Thursday, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison over the attack and robbery.
