300 Factory Workers in Málaga, Spain, May Be Affected Economically Due to the Coronavirus

The electronics manufacturer Fujitsu has announced that its plant in Andalusía is starting to suffer economically from the recent coronavirus outbreaks around the world. This becomes clear since the company now has filed for a Temporary Employment Regulation File (ERTE) for its factory in Málaga due to production problems caused by the virus’ rapid spread in China. 

The virus outbreak in China has led to a breakdown in manufacturing processes in the country, which in turn has caused production problems at the Fujitsu plant in Málaga, as it is dependent on components from the Chinese factories to continue with the production in Spain.

The ERTE will affect more than 300 of the Spanish factory employees and is planned to take effect on March 2 and could last for more than three months until May 17. During this time the company warns that it may need to stop production altogether due to the lack of components from China. This will, of course, massively affect all the workers in the factory economically.
