Fine and jail sentence for Felix fire-starter

A COURT has ruled a nine-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of €578.46 for a Felix resident for setting off a wildfire in the Los Multillas area of the locality in 2017 as a result of the “seriously careless and negligent” burning of undergrowth.

The court found him guilty of piling up dry thickets in a forest, non-agricultural zone and of “not adopting adequate preventative measures to prevent the fire spreading.”

The blaze affected half a hectare.
