NEW road safety measures were unveiled in Benitachell yesterday with the completion of a roundabout at a busy intersection.

More than €40,000 was spent improving road safety, traffic management and pedestrian accessibility at the intersection between Avenida de Valencia, the Javea road and Calle Mercat.

According to technical reports from the council and local police, ‘the mini traffic circle has been fitted to ensure that large vehicles can turn around and drivers can reduce their speed’.

In addition, other traffic calming measures have been put in place, including speed bumps and a new raised pedestrian crossing.
