CARNIVAL: Getting ready to party. Photo credit: Benidorm town hall
PUPILS at Benidorm’s infants and primary schools had a break in the school day for their Carnival celebrations last week. Children at the Bautista Lledo, Aitana and Vasco Nuñez de Balbao schools paraded together through the adjoining streets, although the Sierra Helada, Leonor Canalejas and Gabriel Miroschools organised independent processions. The remaining state, state-recognised and private schools, as well as the municipal nurseries, organised their own Carnival festivities. Meanwhile, the Associacio de Penyes–the association of the groups that celebrate and help to organise Benidorm’s fiestas each November–organised the official Carnival in collaboration with the town hall’s Fiestas department headed by Jesus Carrobles.
