Government Warns: Coronavirus Incubation Period Much Longer Than Expected – Fear of Pandemic Rises

To date, over 76,000 people worldwide have been infected with the Coronavirus, also known as covid-19. So far, more than 2000 people around the world are reported to have died. The infection has, until now, spread to 26 countries in addition to China. Among these countries are the UK with a total of 9 confirmed cases, and Spain with 2 cases.

The Chinese government now warns that the incubation period for those infected with the Coronavirus may be significantly longer than previously thought.

This warning comes in the wake of a new case, where a 70-year-old man in the Hubei province in China was infected but did not show symptoms until 27 days later.

The Chinese government also states that a longer incubation period can hamper efforts to stop the spread of the virus, raising the fear that the Coronavirus will become a pandemic.

Previously, the incubation period was believed to be 14 days, leading to those infected with the virus being isolated for 14 days. According To Reuters, the Chinese government now announces that those who are infected may have to sit in isolation for 27 days instead. All in an effort to prevent a pandemic from becoming real, but the question is if it’s already too late…
