Speaking to Foreign residents in Marbella

THE Councillor responsible for Foreigners, Bocanegra Remedies, has a very busy month ahead of her as she undertakes a number of different activities with groups associated with foreigners living in Marbella. One of the aims of the department is to foster closer relationships with the more than 100 different nationalities that live with the municipality and to encourage them to register as residents. A meeting has just been held at the Adolfo Suárez Congress Centre where she met with and gave advice to the local Philippine community which has more than 1,500 members registered. Then she took part in the II Russian-Spanish International Forum ‘Education Without Frontier’ organized by the Eureka socio-cultural association with the aim of presenting details of the main Russian universities and the growing Russian community now exceeds 2,300.

Coming up on March 8, Bulgarian National Day is being recognised (a few days after the official date) and there will be a celebration from noon until 11pm at La Fontanilla roundabout with Bulgarian food, dance and music attended by many of the 500 Bulgarian residents. Next comes the annual St Patrick’s Day which will run over two days March 14 and 15 at La Fontanilla and many structures throughout the city will be lit with green lights. Finally, at some time soon, British Consul to Andalucia, Charmaine Arbouin, will return to Marbella to talk about Brexit.
