COLLEGIUM MUSICUM believes that it is unique on the Costa del Sol as it is the only musical society that gives amateur singers and instrumentalists the opportunity to make music together with professional musicians. It is a flourishing international society that reflects the cosmopolitan nature of the Costa del Sol with over 100 singers and instrumentalists from some 20 nationalities. In their concerts which take place in May and December each year, they perform a variety of choral music from the last 400 years, usually accompanied by instruments and orchestral music ranging from the Renaissance through the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods as well as works by contemporary composers.
Rehearsals take place in Los Boliches, Fuengirola every Tuesday evening from September to May and Collegium Musicum is a non-profit-making society; members pay a yearly fee, but the society is very dependent on sponsorship from friends and patrons. Since May 2011 the Camerata Singers of Sotogrande have joined them for the Spring Concerts and this year, they will perform for the fourth year running at the Hotel IPV Palace & Spa in Fuengirola on May 24 with music by Beethoven (to celebrate the 250th anniversary of his birth) and Mozart.
