Champions Liverpool have to come from behind in their Champions League last-16 tie against Atletico Madrid after a 1-0 first-leg defeat in the Spanish capital on Tuesday, which produced only their third defeat of the season.
Atletico Madrid are struggling in their domestic league but are always dangerous in Europe, as Liverpool found out.
Atletico got an early winner on the 4th minute as Saul Niguez put one in the back of the net from close range as the ball dropped to him after sloppy Liverpool defending on a corner.
Atletico parked the bus and defended well allowing Liverpool to dominate the ball play but denying them a break through.
The reigning champions finished the game with a statistic of no shots to goal on target despite Mohamed Salah going close twice, and Jordan Henderson steering just wide in the second half.
It certainly sets up a second leg at the famous Anfield ground where Liverpool will surely go on the attack in their flamboyant style of attacking football whilst Atletico will defend their first round advantage and try to catch Liverpool on the break.
With a full Kop behind them, it will certainly make an entertaining match for the neutral fan.
