Healthy relationships for Calpe’s young on the Costa Blanca

CALPE town hall has organised workshops to promote equality amongst Costa Blanca high school pupils and prevent gender violence. The Equality department explained that the workshops, which are attended by 797 pupils, set out to eliminate gender stereotypes, violent conduct, all types of sexual harassment and “micromachismos”, the pervasive but subtle sexist strategies of male domination that continue to exist in day-to-day living. The workshops also deal with new masculinity and femininity, the Equality department said. The discussions follow on from the town hall booklet-Calpe, ‘Por Los Buenos Tratos’ -a guide that was published last year to help adolescents form healthy relationships free of gender violence. The booklet also deals with the myths erroneously associated with romantic love and their close to links to gender violence, while advising on alternatives for building healthy relationships based on equality.
