TOURISM is such an important part of the economy of Benalmadena that the council in particular does a great deal to promote the town and to share information with other areas.

It has recently welcomed students studying for degrees in tourism at the Malaga based IES Ben Gabirol College and they were invited to visit the local tourist office and discuss various matters of interest.

Alongside the students were four school teachers from Poland who wanted to find out more about Benalmadena as a potential town for some of their students to visit as part of the European Erasmus programme.

The head of the local tourism office, Joanna Drozdowska greeted the visitors and gave them a run-down of all of the work undertaken to promote tourism within the area and explained the importance of keeping abreast of new technology in order to offer a better service to tourists.

After being given a selection of promotional material, the head of the tourist office also indicated that an official representative would be available to take part in a tourism seminar at their institution if required.
