Plane En Route To Spain’s Malaga Airport Makes Emergency Landing

An Air Baltic aircraft on its way from Riga to Malaga yesterday (Wednesday) morning had to make an emergency landing in Bordeaux in south-west France due to an engine failure.

The captain had reported that he had detected a stop in the left engine and the usual safety procedures were put in place

The company said in a statement that the flight BT677 had to be diverted for “technical reasons” and landed safely at Bordeaux-Mérignac airport.

The French Bureau of Investigation and Analysis (BEA), which is responsible for investigating this type of situation, announced on Twitter that it was sending a team of experts to analyse the incident.

And Flightradar: “Air Baltic flight #BT677 Riga – Malaga has changed the squawk code to 7700 (general emergency) and is diverting to Bordeaux”

Air Baltic said that it is organising a new flight to Malaga as soon as possible, apologised to the affected passengers, adding that it has offered the passengers food and drink until they can board again.
