Spain's Benajarafe And Chilches Prepare To Celebrate Carnival 2020

THE deputy mayor of Benajarafe and Chilches, J. Hipólito Gómez, accompanied by a representative of Benajarafe and members of the Women’s Association of Chilches, presented the carnaval program to be held on February 15 in Benajarafe and February 16 in Chilches.

In Benajarafe, Carnival will be celebrated on the 15th of February. The program of activities will begin at 13.00 hours with the performance of ‘Tacnoes al aire’ by Dalila Calderon and the exhibition of ‘C.D. Fit-Axarquia’ by Luismy Varela. Later there will be performances by the chirigota formed by the sixth grade students of the C.E.I.P. San Faustino and the Murga del Pacheco, ‘El Príncipe de Vélez’. Registration for the parade will take place from 1pm to 3pm on the day of the parade in the church courtyard.

Chilches will celebrate its Carnival on Sunday 16 February. Those interested in participating in the parade must register at 4pm at the Sports Centre, from where the parade will start at 4.30pm and go through the surrounding streets. Later there will be a performance by the Comparsa del Landro, ‘La contradicción’.

The afternoon will be accompanied by children’s animations such as mask painting, balloons and inflatable castles. At 17.30 there will be a snack where churros and chocolate will be served. To finish, the prizes of the parade will be given to the best costumes in the different categories, individual and group, children and adults.
