THERE was a healthy increase in the number of tourists visiting Almeria last year.
A total of 2,602,549 people holidayed in the province last year, up from 2,156,356 in 2018, according to the Andalucia Institute of Statistics Cartography regional tourism survey.
The survey also revealed each tourist spent an average of €62.77 a day, 1.7 per cent more than a year earlier.
Visitors gave the province an average ranking of 8.01 out of 10.
Service and friendly people were particularly highly rated. There is room for improvement on public transport though, visitors said.
