AMAZON has announced yesterday, Sunday, that it will not attend the Mobile World Congress (MWC) as a precautionary measure for the coronavirus.
Amazon’s decision to pull out joins that already taken by the companies of Ericsson, Nvidia and LG.
“Due to the outbreak and continuing concerns about the new coronavirus, Amazon will withdraw from exhibiting and participating in the Mobile World Congress 2020,” a spokesperson for the company stated.
The MWC will be held from Monday 24 February to Thursday 27 February at the Fira de Barcelona exhibition centre in the Catalan capital and in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona).
The GSMA, the organiser of the MWC, regretted on Friday the decision of these companies not to participate in the 2020 edition of the world’s largest mobile industry event and admitted that their absence will have an impact on this year’s congress, but that the event “will continue as planned”.
