Costa Blanca News: Annual cycling tour sets off from Orihuela

THE Mayor of Orihuela, Emilio Bascuñana, together with the Councilor for Sports, Víctor Bernabéu, and the general director of the Vuelta, Ángel Casero, have opened the third stage of the 71st Cycling Tour of the Valencian Community “Gran Premi Banc Sabadell”, on Friday, which left from the Puerta de la Olma, located on the esplanade of the Diocesan College Santo Domingo de Orihuela.

“For me, it is greatly satisfying to have another edition of the ‘Vuelta a la Comunidad Valenciana’ here again because today we are the focus of sport at national level and this event has an important media influence that makes us very excited”, said the Mayor.

Also, in the starting line were second to the mayor, Rafael Almagro, Councillor for Tourism, Mariola Rocamora, Councillor for Public Safety, Víctor Valverde, and the deputy general director of Banco Sabadell, Jaime Matas.


The third stage of the Tour of the Valencian Community, which consists of 175 kilometres, takes cyclists on a route through different streets of Orihuela and continues through the districts of El Escorratel, Hurchillo, La Murada, Molins as well as other locations in the Vega Baja to finish in Torrevieja.
