Charges made by Spanish postal service Correos to be investigated

THE Spanish National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) in its review of the pricing discounts offered to large customers including public administrations  believes that the post office (Correos) may be in breach of its own regulations.

It would appear that the discounts mean that the cost of handling the business is greater than the amount charged which may be against its obligations as a public company and the matter is now under investigation.

Also to be reviewed is the cost of sending packages internally and abroad which may be uneconomic as well as the high cost of posting ordinary letters to Europe when compared to equivalent costs in other EU States.
