CLC World Foundation have once more participated in the ‘Caravana por la Paz’ or ‘Caravan for Peace’ campaign, a humanitarian movement which collects food for the refugee town of Sahraui.
For the 3rd consecutive year, the foundation has made a donation of 300kgs of food, mainly rice, oil and sugar, to the ‘Asociación Mijeña de Amistad con el Pueblo Saharaui’.
An act that has been assisted by the president of the CLC World Foundation, Juan Miguel Marcos, accompanied by the mayor of Mijas, Josele González, together with other municipal representatives such as the president of the Mijas collective, Mari Carmen Cortés.
Juan Miguel Marcos highlighted the great work that has been achieved by this organisation.
“We know the fantastic work that they do and how essential their job is, and we need to be there. We love knowing that a small investment like this can help so many families.”
The first mayor has indicated that last year they collected around 50,000 kgs of food via this initiative, an important figure, keeping in mind that in the camps, there are almost 200,000 people in unfavourable circumstances.
“From the townhall, we thank CLC World for their continuous social activity within the municipality, and in this case, for crossing borders. We would like to thank all of the volunteers from this campaign who keep working each year for freedom of the town of Saharaui, for approaching the first-world conditions of this town which has spent nearly 45 years fighting for freedom.”
In this sense, the president of the collective has shown her satisfaction for the constant support from the foundation of the association, which demands significant effort to carry out this food collection.
