THE Teulada-Moraira Fishing Club recently fished Section FI of the River Jucar. Earlier in the week they had checked with the bailiff and were advised that the river was “just about fishable” but the club’s original schedule to fish section F2 had to be revised. The river had flooded badly during the recent storms, rising by an incredible four metres. The receding waters had then deposited a thick layer of mud along the river bank, making access to some sections quite dangerous. As expected, the river was running rapidly with a heavy, thick colour so members found themselves in quite difficult conditions with fishing limited to the near bank only. Water temperature was 12 degrees but the air temperature gradually rose to a balmy 19 degrees. A total of 12 fish were caught with only two members returning empty nets, with Graham Sewell heading the leader-board with four fish weighing 8.5 kilos.
