Two men threatened to kill Premier League footballer Mesut Ozil and defile his mother whilst threatening his security guards, a court has heard.

Salaman Ekinci and Ferhat Ercun have denied behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, outside the £9M house owned by the £350,000 a week player.

Ozil’s security guard Kemil Sezer informed Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on Tuesday how he and a colleague had been protecting the German star for several weeks, following the attempted carjacking involving fellow Arsenal defender, Sead Kolasinac.

He told how he initially saw the men at roughly 7.30 pm on August 8 2019 – they returned three hours later in the darkness.

He revealed that the accused men began to shout “F**k your mothers! We’re going to f*** Mesut’s mother! We’ll be back in five minutes and if security don’t go from here, we’re going to kill Mesut Ozil.”

Sezer noted that Ozil is loved by the Turkish people and that they ‘had a responsibility to protect him.’

Ekinci and Ercun, both 27, and both of Tottenham, north London, appeared at the trial dressed smartly in dark suits and waistcoats for trial over the alleged incident.

Prosecutor Sarah Gabay said Ekinci and Ercun were detained by the guards after they returned for a third time after midnight before police were called.

She told: “In interview both defendants denied using the language and said they had been no conversation between them and said they had been attacked by the security guards.”
