TORREVIEJA council is getting going on upgrading some 400 lights on the N-322 where it goes through the municipality.
The works will be carried out on a nearly nine-kilometre stretch of the highway going from the Punta Prima urbanization to the La Mara area, Urban Services Quality councillor Sandra Sanchez explained. The project also covers exit and entrance roads.
All the bulbs will be replaced and lights now working will be repaired. The lights will also be cleaned up.
Two trucks with lifting baskets will be used to speed up the process and to make it easier.
The works are set to take around two months to complete given the difficulties of carrying out these kinds of jobs on a road with such a high density of traffic.
Sanchez reported that in order to go ahead with the improvements it had been necessary to request permission from the Valencian Community government Highway General Management’s Alicante State Highways Demarcation Unit. This had involved having to provide a technical report on the provisional sign posting or markers indicating the works from the maintenance company.
The purpose, the councillor said, was to ensure the measures are carried out in conditions of maximum safety for both the workers and for road users.
