Costa Blanca News: Helping the homeless of Murcia

DURING the past week, the Mobile Emergency and Social Assistance Service of Murcia (SEMAS), has come to the aid of homeless people due to low temperatures.

The people in need of help were of various nationalities, seven being from Spain, two from Bulgaria, and others from Holland, Romania and Hungary. In addition to giving them information and guidance with regard to social resources, they were also given hot food and drinks, and a sleeping bag.

The areas that were covered were El Carmen, Centro Zone, Plano de San Francisco, San Antolin, San Andres, San Anton, Santa Maria de Gracia, San Basilio.

SEMAS are on permanent alert but when the temperature drops below five degrees their work can become exhaustive, providing information services, attention, support and delivery of hot drinks, food, sleeping bags or blankets to serve those people without homes that are in extreme situations, trying to promote their social integration.
