Calpe’s U3A gentlemen’s dining group enjoy positive start to 2020 on the Costa Blanca

THE gentlemen’s dining group of the Calpe U3A met for the first time of 2020 at the Asiatic restaurant, Suvashi, on Thursday, for a relaxed evening of good food and gentle banter.

This month, with many still absent after the Christmas festivities, the group comprised of just 10 happy souls.

Spokesperson, Arthur Croasdell, said: “Volunteers were forthcoming to organise events for later in the year and the evening ended on a positive note.”

The gentlemen of the Calpe U3A men’s dining group meet on the last Thursday of the month at a local restaurant on a recommendation from other members.

The next meeting takes place on Thursday, February 20, and speaker will be John Hopwood who will talk about “The double life of and the amazing art of Grayson Perry”.

Arthur added that John’s talks in the past were very interesting and amusing“the history of FW Woolworths” and the “history of the bicycle.” Doors open at 10am for signing in and meeting group leaders, for an 11am start, at Sol Ifach Hotel Calpe.
