Jonny Halstead was found dead at his home-Police later shot the dog that mauled him while he was having a “medical episode”
Jonny Halstead was pronounced dead at a house on Duckworth Street in Shaw, Oldham on Wednesday 29 January.
It is understood the 35-year-old collapsed while suffering a medical episode. Police said Mr. Halstead was ‘bitten multiple times’ by the animal. The dog is understood to have been shot by police.
Neighbours reported seeing a number of police cars and ambulances on the quiet street on Wednesday afternoon (January 29).
Forensic teams and plainclothes officers were seen going in and out the property throughout the day and into the evening. The front door of the house has since been boarded up.
The news of Mr. Halstead’s tragic death, tributes poured in on social media. A gofundme page set up by friends to raise money for funeral costs has already raised over £1,000.
One person wrote on Facebook: “Jonny Halstead was taken far too soon. “If you knew him and fancy doing one positive thing today try and support his family and cover some costs.
“You had me in stitches every time we met.” Another said: “We lost a good friend yesterday.
