Hunter shoots man dead in Spain after mistaking him for a wild boar

A MAN has been shot dead in Spain after a hunter mistook him for a wild boar.

As reported by sources close to the investigation, the hunter, who is described as being in his 60s, was out looking for wild boars in Las Tres Villas in Almeria on Saturday evening (February 1). He had been standing at the bottom of a mountain armed with a rifle as he waited for the animals to descend – a usual occurrence when the wild boars search for food.

After believing that he had located one of boars he aimed and shot his weapon and after approaching the corpse he realised that it was in fact a man that he had killed. It is understood that the man quickly alerted a relative and confessed what he had done, before handing himself into the Guardia Civil.

According to sources, the deceased was a 45-year-old man who at the time of being shot was crouched down as he was pruning vineyards on his farm. As Euro Weekly News understands, there was also very low visibility in the area which may have contributed to this tragic case of mistaken identity.
