Feminists in Spain slam University course on Porn Theory as ‘hate speech’ and order its cancellation

FEMINISTS have slammed the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) in Spain as it was revealed that a course would be held on the ‘Introduction to Porn Theory.’

The course was due to commence in March and was organised by the Faculty of Geography and History, however, the feminist lobbying group ‘Abolitionist Assembly of Madrid‘ made a complaint to the heads of the University citing that it “undermined the dignity and image of all women in the academic field.”

The group condemned the image that was used to publicise the course which showed a woman in a comprising position, both being naked and tied with ropes. A spokesperson stated that the advertising of this type of sexual activity “validates the macho violence of a woman who is controlled in the academic field and does not present a good image to female students.”

According to the group, the poster and content of the course, violates “the National Law on Comprehensive Protection against gender violence with special attention to the field of Education.”

In addition, they state that the course “maintains a degrading stereotype of women in its contents” and is “entirely built around male domination and objectifying women with a focus on the digital porn market.”

For all of these reasons, the group demanded that all publicity is removed and that the course is cancelled immediately as serves as “hate speech” against women and constitutes the “dissemination of sexist violence.”

After the University was denounced, Isabel Tajahuerce, the Head of Equality at the UCM, confirmed that the course would no longer go ahead. As Euro Weekly News understands, the professor who coordinated the programme for the Department of Art History has also been terminated from their position, effective immediately.
