THE Valencia region legislature’s special committee for studying flood prevention measures in the Vega Baja region was constituted on Monday in Orihuela, one of the worst hit areas by September’s extreme weather events.

Among those attending the meeting were the regional parliament president Enric Morera and representatives of the Popular Party, Ciudadanos and Vox political groupings.

Morera called for the “unanimity” of all institutions to find ways of dealing with climate events affecting the Valencia Community, “thoroughly analysing what has to be done and how.”

The commission has a maximum time period of 12 months to reach its conclusions.
