Spanish Government Proposes Tolls For ‘High-Capacity’ Roads CREDIT: M. À. Cañellas.
TRAGEDY enveloped Mallorca, Spain on Monday, January 27, when a woman jumped to her death from a bridge onto the highway. The fatal incident took place at approximately 7.30am on the Llucmajor highway near the exit for Coll d’en Rabassa. As the woman hit the ground, several cars tried to avoid striking her body, however one vehicle crashed into her and overturned, injuring the two occupants inside. As the accident was called in to the emergency services, five SAMU-061 ambulances, units from the National Police, Guardia Civil and the Fire Brigade rushed to the scene, transferring the injured victims to hospital. Traffic was cut for several hours, with the three lanes of the highway being closed. The identity of the deceased has not yet been revealed by the authorities, nor the reason why she chose to end of her life.
