ORIHUELA council has unveiled a new audio-visual campaign to promote the area as one of the Costa Blanca’s top tourist destinations offering a range of experiences.
Mayor Emilio Bascuñana and Tourism councillor Mariola Rocamora presented the ‘Descubre Orihuela’ (Discover Orihuela) campaign video at the Alicante provincial government’s Costa Blanca stand at last week’s FITUR international travel fair in Madrid.
The production “shows Orihuela’s extensive tourism offer of heritage, nature, sun and beach, fiesta, cuisine, golf and the figure of the Orihuela poet Miguel Hernandez”, the Tourism councillor explained.
Rocamora also pointed to Orihuela’s attractions for sports lovers, commenting on the options for all different kinds of active tourism in the municipality, among them hiking, canyoning, climbing and mountain biking.
The video was produced by active tourism specialists and was filmed over three months in collaboration with the council’s Sports department and a number of different associations.
Among the locations which feature in the film are the Pico del Aguila mountain, the La Muela cross, San Miguel, Vistabella, Cabo Roig, the Hurchillo mountains, the Pedrera reservoir and monuments like the Santiago Apostol parish church.
The mayor and the councillor also revealed Orihuela appears in the magazine ‘Destinos Gastronomicos’. The article talks about the historic town centre, the municipality’s natural heritage, its offer of sun and sand and its fiestas declared of National Tourist Interest, among them the Moors and Christians.
Unsurprisingly there is a particular emphasis on the locality’s cuisine and typical dishes made from local produce, including artichokes, broccoli and citrus fruit, as well as its cakes.
