WATCH: Terror on Spain’s streets as football hooligans erupt in mass brawl

FOOTBALL hooligans reigned horror in Spain as they met at the gates of the Mestalla Stadium and erupted into violence today (January 25).

The hooligans descended to the streets as Barcelona and Valencia football clubs began their highly awaited match. Local sources indicate that those on the side of Valencia insulted and threatened Barça fans, who in turn retaliated by throwing flares and heavy objects as those who were passing by ran for their lives.

Owners of shops, bars and restaurants in the area quickly also shut their doors and took cover as the violence worsened.

Police officers soon arrived at the scene and arrested more than a dozen people, some of which are known criminals and have an extensive history for participating in violent groups.

The game had been declared high risk due to the rivalry between the fans of both teams, but that did not stop the hooligans facing one other in the middle of the street.
