VELEZ-RUBIO is promoting both its oldest traditions and technological tools as visitor attractions at this week’s FITUR international travel fair in Madrid.
Culture councillor Concepcion Perez and Deputy Mayor Vicente Garcia Egea presented a new promotional video focusing on the municipality’s Easter Week celebrations.
Velez-Rubio’s Easter events are the among the oldest in the province, second only to those of Cuevas del Almanzora, and have Fiesta of Andalucia Interest.
The councillors also unveiled the new ‘Velez-Rubio, Puerta de Andalucia’ app.
Designed by the local authority it features all the municipality’s tourist services, accommodation, crafts, public services and places of interest, and is available in English and French as well as Spanish.
It also has the advantage that it can be downloaded and used without an internet connection.
“It is a very useful tool, with which we want to open ourselves up to the new horizons which the tourist sector offers”, commented Garcia Egea.
“We are aware that tourists have changed their ways of accessing the market, where new technology sets the pace.”
