THE Friends of Zurgena Charity has shown it support for the local school with a €2,020 contribution for the purchase of digital boards and other much needed equipment.
FOZC members dropped into the school today Thursday to present school headmaster Jose Antonio Galera and English teacher Rosario with the money the charity has raised.
FOZC’s Peter Dell said the hope had been to raise in excess of €3,000, “unforeseen circumstances” getting in the way of achieving their aim.
The charity is however planning seven or eight shows at the old La Alfoquia railway station this year and the team is confident they will reach their target, albeit, Peter added, with the help of local residents by going along.
FOZC promises “top artists from around Europe and the UK.”
The first night of entertainment will be on Thursday February 6, followed by another show on March 11.
FOZC appeals to people help with the fundraising efforts by attending. They also put ou many thanks to “all the volunteers who give their time and effort to getting the venues ready for the evenings and cleaning up afterwards.”
