THE next couple of months are shaping up to be a busy time for Age Concern Costa Calida.

Coming up on Friday February 7 and Friday February 21 there will be chair exercising sessions from 10.30 to 11am at the charity’s Drop in Centre at Calle Valencia 12 in Camposol A.

There will a half an hour of gentle exercises to music, guided by Doris through some muscle exercise and gentle stretching. The sessions are free to the over 50 age group, and Age Concern invites people to go along for a coffee and a chat and give it a try.

There will be an afternoon tea at the centre on Wednesday February 19 from 2 to 4pm and a lunch at a Puerto de Mazarron restaurant the following Wednesday.

On the morning of the last Friday of the month Age Concern is holding a ‘table top sale’ outside Mercer’s office offering all sorts of bargains. They welcome donations of bric-a-brac and other useful items.

The charity still has a few places left for its trip to the fabulous Valencia Fallas festival from March 16 to 20. Call Pat Firth on 665 491 077 for more information and a full programme of events for this highlight of the Valencia year.

Also in March, there is a Welcome Group ladies’ night with the customary Age Concern fashion show. Tickets are available from the Welcome Group.

The charity has issued a big thank to “all our friends and our brave swimmers”, who took part in the New Year’s Day sponsored swim and its appreciation for everybody’s “valuable support.”

Age Concern reported the total donations are expected to add up to over €3,000, and suggested a repeat of the fundraising event next year.
