Euro Weekly News Reporter Tara Rippin Reports From Spain’s Alicante Airport Whilst it’s currently closed

Tara Rippin is on site and reports:

Storm Gloria causes flight chaos in the Costa Blanca
FIRE-damaged Airport has been forced to close until 1pm tomorrow (Monday, January 20) as Storm Gloria takes its toll on the province.
Having only just opened after a blaze in one of the terminal buildings on Wednesday, the decision was made to close the busy airport once again as operators feared the damaged structure could be affected by the fierce winds.
A total of 190 flights have been cancelled affecting some 20,000 passengers. Alicante Airport operator Aena has urged anybody who had expected to travel before lunchtime tomorrow to stay at home and contact the relevant airlines by telephone.

Snow is coming through all the roof damaging equipment  preventing any operations, please check before considering any departure.

Staff here are working through the night in an attempt to get the airport operational again as soon as possible.

Updates to follow.
