American tourist dies in horror crash that sent car flying into a canal in Spain

AN AMERICAN tourist has died in Spain after crashing a rental car into a canal.

As reported by the emergency services, the man, whose identity is yet to be revelled, swerved off the B-22 road in El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona, in the early hours of this morning (January 18) As a result of the vehicle veering off the road, the car landed in a nearby canal.

It is understood that due to the speed and impact received from the crash, the driver died instantly. The emergency services had arrived to the scene a short time after the accident had taken place, however the man showed no signs of life.

As Euro Weekly News understands, an investigation has now been launched by the Mossos d’Esquadra police force and the car has been pulled out of the water by the fire brigade today.

Local sources indicate that the man was on holiday at the time with officers confirming that they have notified the victim’s next of kin.
