VIEWS: Walkers will hike in La Almijara on January 26
Almuñecar is getting the year off to an active start, as the municipal department of sport announces 14 hiking excursions in Southern Spain. The program advertises hiking trails along the Axarquia coast and others further inland. Hikers will undertake the first trail on January 26, on a route between Maro and La Coladilla in Nerja. Participants will be able to enjoy the Mediterranean vegetation, the ravine and the panoramic views of La Almijara natural park. Two more routes are scheduled for February 9 and February 23, in Lecrin Valley and Laujar de Andarax. In March, routes will include a trail by the cliffs in Cerro Gordo and Maro and a second trail between Fuentes and Atalayas de Cónchar. The group will convene for different hikes until June, when the activity will be paused in the summer months and resumed in October. Those interested in taking part in the program or any of the planned routes can register at the municipal offices located in the Francisco Bonet stadium. The offices open from 9am to 2pm and from 5pm to 10pm and inscription is open until the Thursday before the planned hike.
