CV-734 improvements underway for Javea, Costa Blanca

A start has been made on the new roundabouts where the CV-734 road from Gata de Gorgos enters Javea.

These will improve road safety and improve traffic flow, especially at the Tanatorio (Chapel of Rest). Work, which is being carried out by the regional government’s public works department, has begun by painting yellow lines on the hard shoulder and central reservation to warn drivers that roadworks are underway.

The sites for the two future roundabouts at the entrance to the Chapel of Rest and the access to the Ramblars rubbish transfer plant have also been marked out. Javea’s mayor Jose Chulvi and Isabel Bolufer, the local councillor responsible for Public Works, recently went out to the CV-734 to inspect the preliminaries after receiving notice from the Generalitat that work is due to begin almost immediately.

The roundabouts will be built simultaneously to optimise resources and machinery, Chulvi and Bolufer explained, and there are no plans to restrict traffic during construction. The entire cost of building the roundabouts will be met by the Generalitat, the government of the Valencian Community, although the land was ceded by Javea town hall which also settled the necessary compulsory purchase payments, Chulvi said.
