THIS past weekend was a tragic one as four people lost their lives in accidents on Murcia roads.
The first fatality occurred in Santomera on Saturday morning when a 79-year-old pedestrian was hit by a lorry. This was followed during the afternoon with the death of a motorcyclist who lost control of their bike in Molina and struck a lampost. The rider was a local police officer from Archena, where two days of official mourning were declared and flags flown at half-mast.
On Sunday morning more accidents took place when another motorcyclist died on the M-301A between Murcia and Molina de Segura as a cyclist collided with a woman who stepped out into the road after being involved in a separate accident. The bad news continued later in the afternoon when a 58-year-old man died in another collision on the southbound carriageway of the AP-7 in Los Alcazares.
Two others were injured during the last incidents and had to be taken for treatment in San Javier.
