Heartbreak in Spain as body of missing elderly man with Alzheimer’s is discovered

IT is with great sadness that Euro Weekly News can confirm that the lifeless body of a missing and much loved elderly man has been discovered in Spain.

Francisco Sanfélix, 75, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, had been missing since December 24 after he failed to return home after running an errand in Xàtiva.

After several hours passed, his family frantically searched the area but when that did not produce any results, they notified the emergency services, sparking a search and rescue operation from the police.

It was reported in the local press that at the time of his disappearance police suspected that Francisco may have become disorientated and was sleeping on the streets, although his family reported that he had never gotten lost before.

Since his disappearance, the Local Police, Guardia Civil, his family and volunteers from the local Spanish community had been desperately looking for the man.

However, it was sadly confirmed that his corpse was found today (January 11) in Montesa, some 18 kilometres from Xativa.

As Euro Weekly News understands, an autopsy will now be carried out to determine the exact cause of his death. It is understood that family members are currently being supported by specialised bereavement officers.
