SAN Jose in the Cabo de Gata national park is ranked as one of the top mini-break destinations in Spain.
Online travel company Atrapalo puts the Nijar location on its list of ideal locations for a short getaway of between one and three nights in its Tourism 2020 Habits and Tendencies study.
Also featuring in the mini-break recommendation rankings are Rodellar (Huesca), Allariz (Galicia), Villa de Valverde (El Hierro), Comillas (Cantabria), Taramundi (Asturias), Guadalupe (Caceres), Almagro (Ciudad Real), Villafames (Castellon) and Beget (Gerona).
Cabo de Gata was one of the most popular natural locations for tourism in the country among Atrapalo users last year.
The study also revealed that Spaniards typically take four or five trips a year: two or three short breaks somewhere within Spain and a couple of longer holidays to other European destinations or further afield.
