THE Benalmadena Councillor for Social Welfare, Alicia Laddag has once again distributed toys to some of the neediest families in the municipality which were collected by donated by Emabesa, Galantis, Los Peques Nursery and the Benalmadena Fishing Club.

Officers working in the town’s social welfare department had identified the 150 families most likely to miss out during the festive season and the councillor said that thanks to the generous donations of more than 300 toys, no child would be left without something new.

This is an ongoing project which is overseen by the Social Intervention Team made up of social workers, educators and psychologists who identify and evaluate resident families in Benalmadena who appear to be vulnerable with children in need of help.

Those children who received gifts covered a spectrum of ages from babies to 14-year-olds and the toys which were chosen were deemed to be non-violent and non-sexist and likely to encourage creativity and cooperation.

Many local companies donated toys to those organising the collection and were thanked in turn by the councillor.
