Employment course participants landscaped the area adjoining Alfaz’s municipal polideportivo sports complex. The programme combined work and training for Alfaz residents with difficulties in entering the labour market or those from vulnerable social collectives, explained Dolores Albero, the town hall councillor responsible for Employment. The dozen people who took part in the course have now obtained a level Two Professional Certificate in installing and maintaining green zones and Level three in gardening and landscape restoration. A celebration at the end of the course held at the Escoles Velles cultural centre was attended by Alfaz’s mayor Vicente Arques, accompanied by Dolores Albero. Alfaz town hall has for years prioritised training and employment throughdifferent programmes especially directed at the unemployed and more recently has paid particular attention to those with functional diversity, Arques explained. The town hall is organising new courses for Alfaz’s Vocational Training Centre which as well as the existing Patient Care, Administration Agriculture and Computer Studies will include Personal Image, Building Works, Tourism and Socio-Cultural Animation
